On Abbott-Gate
Lately, a bunch of year 10s and 11s has been in trouble for posting trolling comments on Tony Abbott's facebook page. This was done outside of school hours and entirely within the law, so the question is: why was Mrs. Mitchell so pissed off? Either:
a) She is a secret Tony Abbott lover
b) She is out to get the students
c) The students were out of line.
We can discount A pretty easily. I mean, is anyone actually a Tony Abbott lover, either publicly or privately? And Mrs. Mitchell has let slip her (leftie) political views on a number of occasions.
Is she out to get the students? Who knows. Somehow I doubt it. That job is reserved for the office ladies.
So were the students out of line? Well, yes and no. By choosing to get involved in something like this, they have, if anything, shown their naivete. I seriously hope none of them hopes for a career in politics. And they've also given ammo to those crazy fascists who think that the entire school system is a communist conspiracy and we should privatise the whole damn thing!
But in the end, they had the right to act like naive tossers, and Mrs. Mitchell should have just accepted that. Because really, naive tossers are what makes Smiths Hill the school it is. And we should be proud of it.

I'm going with option d) She's anal about the school's reputation.
I think that the whole situation got out of hand, and that both sides were bring ridiculous. I think that its more at the fault of the ADULTS than the students that were just trolling and trying to cause trouble. Seriously, it was funny. The students might have started it, but the people that were supposed to be mature let it get that way. But like you said, it all happened outside of school, so it wasn't any of her business. Because of option d, stated above though, she made it her business. I suppose thats what principals do. -shrugs-
+ Mega proud of SHHS :D We are win XD
"naive tossers"
