WTF MOMENT: episode one- L0CK-D0WN
A wild Mitchell appears. She uses “lock-down”. It’s super-effective-the students love her!
This week’s (it’s only Tuesday...but really, what kind of adventures can we really get into to?) WTF moment comes courtesy of a little situation we like to call lock-down. At Smiths Hill, lock-down (according to legend) can mean one of two things
a) Armed gun-man
b) rabid dog.
Personally, I would have picked rabid dog, you know, all like Tim Jonson-style from To Kill a Mocking Bird? What? You don’t remember that part? You darn kids are too busy reading about wizards and vampires these days. The lock-down ”wasn’t a drill” but somehow the inane chatter of the office-ladies was not interrupted at all. Lock-down is pretty sweet. I mean that’s like 10 whole minutes of talking....IN CLASS. I mean I like never get to talk to my friends.Like.ever. And you get to SIT UNDER YOUR DESK! Yes my friends...that’s UNDER your desk not AT IT. I mean that’s been like your dream since kindergarten. I even got to conjugate some French verbs under the table (try saying that without thinking of something dirty). I mean it’s just SO EXICITING that I really feel the need to use CAPITALS to express just how AMAZINGLY AWESOME lock-down is. Wow, this is SO awesome, that when I get home, I might do it again. I’ll lock all my doors and windows and then hide under my dining table! Isn’t this fun?
Really? I know it’s really fun to act like you’re six and all....but...you’re more acting like you’re 5 and eight months, and that’s just not cool.
And of course, lunch-time was overflowing with epic stories of what happened during lock-down. There were the usual “We locked out teacher outside of the classroom” and “OMG, LOL i thunk i was like gunna die!!!1!”. There were some stand-out tales such as the one in which the theme from psycho was played to ease the deafening silence after one teacher had instructed the class to hide under the tables.
Our lessons were disturbed which is always a plus. And we got to observe all the pretty assorted colours of god-knows-how-old gum stuck to the bottom of the desks. And that’s 10 minutes of our lives extra that we got to enjoy...hiding under desks like 5 and eight month-year olds.

ahaha. I remember when I was in year 7, we had a lockdown drill when I was in IT with Mrs. Ktenas. She locked the doors, and ran around the classroom screaming "they're gonna get us! Hide! They're on to me!"
still not sure if she was joking :D
