Is it just me, or are there quite a few Facebook pages dedicated to our brilliant school? A brief search came up with Smith’s Hill, Smith’s Hill High School, Smith’s Hill Year 8 2009, I love Henry the Groundskeeper, Rae Mitchell is hot to go, Melody Smiths-Hill, I’m adding Davo as soon as I leave school, Smith’s Hill SMag, I have been known to suddenly scream ‘SMITHS HILL IS WHAT?’, smiths hill isn’t as nerdy as people think, Dr Michael Yastroboff, Rodney Zabell, and of course, Smog McSmoggy. That, for those of you who are mathematically challenged and/or from another school, is 11. Figtree High had 3, and I could find 5 for TIGS. What makes our school so much more of a presence on Facebook? Here’s some ideas-


1) Our school is just more awesome than others, and deserves more pages. The number one reason because it’s so obviously true.

2) Too many Smiths Hillians have too much time on their hands. We get through work faster, and are left with an extra half hour and the choice of going on Facebook or watching a repeat episode of NCIS- Los Angeles. Which would you pick?

3) We spend more time on the computer than other schools. Think about it. What else are we nerds supposed to do? Actually go outside?

OF course, this isn’t including SMOG, the now deleted Swiki, SHHS Class of 2013, and most likely one or two others I’ve forgotten. Now, to refer to the article-writing sheet someone gave me some time ago for something, I’m supposed to finish off the article with a parting point. Something witty, perhaps? How’s this- the first person to come up to me next term and say ‘You’re Eric Marshton’- excluding those who already know- gets $5. That’s if you actually read this, instead of making a Facebook page dedicated to Mr Zabell’s bowties. Now, having written the necessary 300 words, I’m going to go off and watch a repeat episode of NCIS- Los Angeles.
